Officers Exchange Fire With Suspects in Brooklyn, 1 Injured: NYPD

Officers exchanged fire with at least two men who started shooting at police Wednesday night in Brooklyn.

Three plainclothes officers in an unmarked car drove by three men involved in an argument at Park and North Portland avenues in Fort Greene just before 11 p.m., the NYPD said.

Officers turned the car around to speak with the men and at least two started firing at the cops, police said.

The car was struck several times, and the officers returned fire.

The suspects ran, but police later found a 23-year-old man at Beth Israel with a gunshot wound to the left thigh. He is in stable condition and is in police custody.

The other two suspects were taken into custody later Wednesday, police said. An alleged getaway driver was also taken into custody.

The three officers were taken to Methodist Hospital to be treated for tinnitus.

Police recovered a .45 caliber Sar Arms firearm at the scene.
