Off-Duty Cop Responding to Craigslist Ad Fatally Shoots Armed Robber: NYPD

An off-duty police officer shot and killed an armed robber after responding to an ad for a car on Craigslist, authorities said.

According to police, when the officer arrived around 10:35 p.m. Monday in Springfield Gardens, Queens, in response to the ad, two men exited a BMW and confronted him.

Police say one of the men produced an air pistol and attempted to rob the officer, who pulled out his gun and fired, striking the suspect. The other suspect fled in the BMW.

The man who was shot was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, officials said. He has been identified as 30-year-old Devon Holder of Brooklyn

Police say they recovered the Holder's black blowback air pistol at the scene.
