Firefighters say they've knocked out a fire that started inside a pool supply store on Long Island but say roads nearby will closed for hours as they work to put out some hotspots.

Crews were called to the fire at 1059 Hicksville Rd. in Seaford at about 2:30 p.m., and found four businesses in flames, authorities say.

The strip mall was evacuated and nearby roads closed as fire departments and haz-mat crews responded, police say.

Fire officials say they called the health department to conduct air quality tests when they realized the fire started at Island Recreational, a pool supply store. The tests all came back negative for any air chemical threats, officials say.

A firefighter was treated for a minor injury.

Fire marshals are investigating the cause of the fire.
