Belmont Park canceled the Friday card because of power problems caused the intense heat and humidity in the New York area.

Due to power outages in the neighboring Averill Park community, Belmont Park has canceled live racing and simulcasting for Friday, July 16. NYRA Rewards Internet and Telebet wagering are available, the race track said in a statement.

The outages resulted in a lack of power at Belmont Park, with interruptions expected to persist throughout the day, interfering with the track’s facilities, simulcasting, and mutuels, officials said.

Racing is scheduled to resume on Saturday.
