Girl, 7, Fatally Struck by Car in Newark

A 7-year-old girl died after being struck by a car in Newark Monday evening, authorities say.

The girl was struck at the intersection of Central and Fairmont avenues shortly after 6 p.m. She was pronounced dead a short time later.

The driver remained on the scene and is being questioned as investigators look into the crash.

Authorities have not filed charges or issued summonses in the incident, but they are continuing to investigate.
