A few New Yorkers are convinced a non-descript “lucky” deli on the Upper West Side is the ticket to a billion dollar Powerball payout.
A worker at the store told NBC 4 New York a woman walked into the deli at West 57th Street and Ninth Avenue a few days ago and bought $2,800 worth of Powerball tickets.
Another man bought a $1,000 worth of tickets at the same deli, the clerk said.
The deli may be considered lucky to some superstitious gamblers because of posters that hang in the store, advertising previous winning lottery tickets sold in there.
A number of previous winners bought tickets at the store and took home winnings from $800 to $4,000, according to the signs in the store.
Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot is now more than $1.5 billion, the largest lottery jackpot in U.S. history.
