One New Yorker is so determined to brighten a stranger's day that she's taken to posting short love letters scribbled on post-it notes in the subway, she told NBC 4 New York.
Aspiring actress Kelsey Swann, 23, who moved to Inwood at the end January from Maryland, started posting the feel-good messages about a month ago.
"I think a lot of people are alone on their commute," Swann said about why she puts the notes on trains and in stations, predominately on the Upper West Side, where she works as a waitress.
"It might be good for them to just see a little inspiration to get them through the day," she said.
Among the messages: “The world needs your unique talents.”
Another note says that “you cannot please everyone (you’re not pizza).”
"Don't give up," says another.

Swann estimates she's posted about 500 of the notes in the past month.
To extend her reach, she includes a hashtag with the notes. Riders have taken note, and are spreading photos of the love letters on Instagram and other social media.
"Need this today...#nyclovenotes," Instagram user @megksanchez wrote with a picture of a note at a Bryant Park subway station that read "you have within you, right now, everything you need to deal with whatever the world can throw at you."
For Swann, that positive reaction is exactly what she's looking for.
"Someone might smile instead of roll their eyes, hold the door for somebody -- it all has a domino effect," she said.
The MTA has not yet responded to a request for comment about the notes.
