New Yorkers have a new weapon against terrorism: a mobile app that allows them to report suspicious activity using their smartphones.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the 'see something, send something' app on Monday.
The app allows users to send photographs or tips to law enforcement. It can be downloaded for free by iPhone or Android users.
The governor's office says the app makes reporting suspicious behavior easy because the tipster doesn't have to decide which law enforcement agency to contact.
"We have stepped up our preparedness in the aftermath of the Paris attacks, and we continue to remain vigilant against those who seek to spread fear and violence," Cuomo said in a statement.
Cuomo also says that the MTA will hire 46 additional police officers to boost counterterrorism efforts at Grand Central Terminal and Penn Station and along the Metro-North, Long Island and Staten Island rail systems.
