A Long Island teenager has pleaded guilty in connection with a drag race crash that claimed five lives.
Newsday says Cory Gloe faces six months in jail when he's sentenced on May 20.
Judge Terence Murphy said Thursday he would grant the 19-year-old youthful offender status. That means his record would be sealed and he would not have a criminal record as an adult. He was 17 at the time.
Gloe challenged another driver to a race in Farmingdale in May 2014. That driver and his passengers were killed when they crossed into oncoming traffic and hit an SUV.
The SUV driver and passenger were seriously injured.
The defense said there was no proof that speeding took place.
Gloe pleaded guilty to manslaughter, assault, criminally negligent homicide and other charges.
