Serial Bank Robber Arrested After Long Island Heist: Police

Police on Long Island say a serial bank robber was arrested Sunday after fleeing the scene of a bank heist.

Police charged Brian Blackford, of Kings Park, with robbery shortly after they say he robbed a TD Bank branch in North Babylon.

Newsday says court records show that the 41-year-old had previously robbed seven banks. He was released on parole in January 2014 after serving nearly 12 years in prison for robbery.

He was charged with the string of Suffolk County robberies just months later. Authorities say he made off with about $40,000.

His court-appointed attorney at the time said Blackford maintained his innocence and pleaded not guilty to all charges.

It wasn't immediately known if he had a lawyer in connection with Sunday's arrest.
