New York Downtown Hospital is reopening one week after Superstorm Sandy barreled into New York City.
Hospital officials said Monday that that the hospital is now open to provide services including surgery and obstetrics to the residents of Lower Manhattan. They expect the hospital to be fully operational by Tuesday.
New York Downtown Hospital serves an area including Wall Street, Chinatown, Battery Park City and the Lower East Side.
It was one of several hospitals in New York City that evacuated patients during the storm and its aftermath.
