New Jersey Teacher Arrested in Alleged Sexual Relationship With Student: Police

A New Jersey teacher has been arrested for an alleged sexual relationship with a student, according to New Jersey State Police.

Police say that William J. Jacobs, a 32-year-old teacher at Buena Regional High School, had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old female student from November 2016 to January 2017, according to investigators.

The investigators also found hundreds of electronic communications between the two.

After learning of the investigation, Jacobs allegedly told his victim not to cooperate with investigators.

Jacobs was arrested Tuesday morning by U.S. Marshals Services in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and is awaiting extradition to New Jersey.

Jacobs was charged with official misconduct, sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, tampering with a witness, and obstruction.

Information on Jacobs' attorney was not immediately available.
