Crews searched the waters off the New Jersey coastline for hours Sunday evening after getting a report about a boy disappearing under the surface, police say.
A pedestrian on an oceanfront path near Sadowsky Parkway in Perth Amboy called police after he said he saw a boy between 8 and 12 struggling in the water, police say.
Search crews looked for the child for about four hours, police say, but called of the search at nightfall.
There are no reports of missing boys in the area, police say, but they say the report is believed to be credible.
