Jersey Shore Nuclear Plant to Test Alarms

A nuclear power plant on the Jersey Shore will be testing emergency sirens Tuesday.

Alarms will sound at the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station  in Lacy Township about 10 a.m.

The Ocean County plant replaced 42 emergency sirens within a 10-mile radius with new units that have battery backups.

The purpose of the sirens is to notify residents to tune to an Emergency Alert System radio or television station in case of an emergency.
