NJ State Computers Affected by Outage

Spokeswoman Elyse Coffey says every MVC office in New Jersey is closed as of 4:30 p.m. Thursday due to the unexpected outage

New Jersey officials say a power failure at the state's primary data center has caused ongoing service disruptions to several state departments and agencies used by the public.

Treasury Department Spokesman William Quinn says the outage happened around 2 p.m. Thursday.

Power had been restored by late Thursday afternoon, but Quinn said technicians would work as late as necessary to bring all systems back online.

Quinn says they are aiming to restore service by Friday morning, but members of the public with state business Friday should check agency websites for updates.

The disruption affected most of the state's computer network, including the nj.gov homepage, the website for unemployment benefits and motor vehicles offices statewide, which had to close an hour early Thursday when their computers went down.
