NJ Homeowner Wonders Why People Keep Stealing His Trump Flags

The latest thief was seen taking flag no. 11 on surveillance footage

What to Know

  • New Jersey homeowner Joe Hornick keeps Trump campaign flags flying outside his house around the clock
  • He already beat a ticket for flying them outside the allowable 30 days leading up to the state primary earlier this month
  • But people keep stealing the flags, and the last alleged thief was captured on hidden camera

A New Jersey man wants to know why people keep stealing Donald Trump campaign flags from his home.

"This is number 12 that I've put up," Joe Hornick told NBC 4 New York Friday, showing the latest Trump flag replacement outside his West Long Branch home.

"It's trespassing, it's violation of my rights here," he said.

The Trump supporter already beat a ticket for having political signs posted more than 30 days before the state primary earlier this month, with help from the ACLU.

But now he's dealing with flag thieves. The latest one was captured on a hidden surveillance camera. He said she appeared angry as she ripped down the flag.

"Maybe she doesn't like Trump. Maybe I can persuade her the way that Donald Trump is not a bad guy," he said

He says he's gotten a lot of random support for his flag-flying. He doesn't want the woman who stole flag no. 11 to be punished.

"Why am I going to try to make this woman's life miserable?" he said. "Maybe we can work it out because in the long run we're all going to have to get along, so let's make America great again."

While Hornick sounds like he'd like to debate each and every one of his flag thieves to try and change their minds, he gives no hint that he would ever change who he supports. And he said he'll keep putting up the flags as they're taken.
