New Jersey Woman Lied About Being Abducted at Gunpoint: Police

Authorities say a Fort Lee woman who called 911 and said she was abducted at gunpoint is charged with creating a false public alarm.

Authorities found 46-year-old Marian Petro unharmed with her extended family at a hotel in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania.

The Monmouth County prosecutor's office says Petro called Monroe Township police last week and said she had been abducted at gunpoint by a man with dreadlocks on a road in Manalapan. Police eventually converged on an intersection in Howell Township, but they were unable to locate anyone.

Petro is being held in Pennsylvania pending extradition to New Jersey.

It is not known if she has a lawyer who can comment on the charges.
