NJ Man Charged With Kidnapping, Sex Assault: Cops

The victim allegedly stabbed, kidnapped and sexually assaulted a woman in a Toms River hotel

A 48-year-old man has been accused of kidnapping, sexually assaulting and stabbing a woman at a New Jersey hotel, police say.

Steen Tarpley of Toms River allegedly held the 31-year-old victim against her will for an undetermined period of time; police found the woman Sunday at the American Hotel on state Route 166 after getting a call about an assault there. Tarpley also allegedly stabbed the victim several times.

Tarpley, who police say knew the woman, had left the the hotel by the time police arrived but was arrested about an hour later at a bus stop nearby. He is charged with kidnapping, aggravated sexual assault and aggravated assault. 

It's not immediately known if Tarpley has an attorney.
