New York Rabbi Acquitted of Sex Abuse Charges

A New York judge has found a rabbi not guilty of sexually abusing a boy over a 5-year period.

Rabbi Moshe Taubenfeld had been charged with sexual conduct against a child.

A few dozen of his supporters started singing and dancing in the hallway after the verdict was announced Thursday.

Taubenfeld is a rabbi at the New Square Hasidic community in Rockland County.

The accuser told the Journal News that "justice has not been served." But he said he hoped his testimony would encourage others with allegations to come forward.

He had accused the rabbi of abusing him between 2001 and 2006, starting when he was 8 years old.

The judge said he ruled on the facts, including whether there was reasonable doubt based on the evidence.
