Nassau County Police Car Crashes, Flips Near LIE

A Nassau County police patrol car crashed and overturned on a service road near westbound Long Island Expressway Monday night, police said.

The officer driving the car was heading toward the LIE from the service road in Syosset near exit 43 at about 9 p.m. when he lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a tree, police said. 

The officer was taken to an area hospital with neck and back injuries. He's expected to be OK.

Police are investigating.
