A Nassau County man was arrested early Sunday on charges accusing him of driving while intoxicated with three children in his car, police said.
Nassau County officers pulled over a 2009 Honda after seeing it swerving on the Long Island Expressway, authorities said.
Officers subsequently charged the driver, Kingsley C. Chukwu, 45, of Middletown, with three counts of aggravated DWI after noticing three children in the back seat. Chukwu's children, 4-year-old twin boys and a 6-year-old boy, weren't wearing seat belts, police said.
The children were allowed to return home with their mother, who also was a passenger.
Chukwu was also charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child and several traffic violations, police said. He was taken into custody and his vehicle was impounded.
