Man Arrested for Swastika Graffiti at Long Island College

Police on Long Island say they have arrested a student in connection with a spate of racially-charged graffiti, including swastikas, at Nassau Community College.

Nassau County police say 20-year-old Jasskirat Saini, of Plainview, was arrested Tuesday on charges of aggravated harassment.

Police say the man scrawled swastikas, KKK and "heil Hitler" at two campus buildings on Tuesday. Saini also allegedly confessed to nearly a dozen other vandalisms at the community college since October.

Saini pleaded not guilty, and his lawyer said the 20-year-old is not a "hateful guy." He added that his father is a military officer and that he deferred starting classes at SUNY Buffalo until January to help care for his mother, who has breast cancer.

Judge Joseph Girardi set bail for the man at $60,000 and said in open court that the graffiti was "like putting a match to gas."
