The NYPD is ready to crack down on drivers who use their cell phones while driving.

Back away from the cell phone and no one will get hurt.

The New York Police Department has announced a big crackdown on phoning-while-driving.

The 24-hour enforcement operation starts Thursday.

Last year, the NYPD issued nearly 200,000 summonses to drivers using a hand held cell phone.

Get caught and you could be fined $120. If you don't get caught, you'll still be subject to dirty looks from your fellow drivers.
