2 Cops Injured in Harlem Crash: NYPD

Two people were taken into custody at the scene, though the charges were unclear

Two NYPD officers were hurt and two people were arrested in a crash in Harlem Friday afternoon, authorities say.

It's not clear what caused the police cruiser and sedan to collide on West 139th Street and Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard.

Both the front of the cruiser and the back of the sedan were smashed in, and sedan, a gray Acura, was crashed into another parked vehicle.

The officers were taken to Harlem Hospital with minor injuries. Two people were taken into custody at the scene, though the charges were unclear.

Witnesses said they saw the police car appearing to pursue the Acura at about 3:30 p.m. with its sirens on, and at some point it crashed into the Acura, causing it to spin out of control.

The officers then got out of the car with their guns drawn and approached the Acura, took two men out of the car and placed them under arrest, witnesses said.
