Man Accused of Hitting Cop With ATV, Leaving Scene

A 31-year man is charged with attempted murder of a police officer and numerous other charges after he allegedly struck an NYPD officer with an all-terrain vehicle and then fled the scene.

Police said Friday they had arrested the suspect for hitting the officer Sunday near Autumn and Pitkin avenues in Cypress Hills after he tried to stop the driver.

The driver dragged the officer nearly 200 feet and ran over one of his legs before fleeing, police said.

The officer had a broken vertebrae, a broken nose and bruises on his face and left leg, police said.
