Two brothers who served in law enforcement have been sentenced in New York to three years in prison for shipping weapons to the Philippines.
A Brooklyn Federal judge handed down the terms to Rex and Wilfredo Maralit Friday.
Rex Maralit, of Lawrenceville, New Jersey, is an ex-NYPD officer. Wilfredo Maralit of Garden Grove, California, worked as a Customs and Borders Protection officer at the Los Angeles International Airport.
They were charged last year with conspiring to sell high-powered weapons to buyers in the Philippines without a required license. In June they pleaded guilty to violating an export law.
The New York Times reports both expressed contrition at their sentencing.
Prosecutors say a third brother believed to be in the Philippines is still at large.
