New York City's 26th annual AIDS Walk has raised more than $6 million for organizations that provide services for people with HIV and AIDS.

Organizers said 45,000 people participated in the fundraising walk on Sunday.

The annual walk through Central Park and the Upper West Side benefits Gay Men's Health Crisis and 41 other organizations that provide food, housing and medical care to people with HIV and AIDS in the tri-state area.

Also on Sunday, U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner and New York State Assemblyman Richard Gottfried called on the federal Food and Drug Administration to approve the sale of over-the-counter rapid HIV test kits.
