Police are investigating whether a mother helped her ailing 39-year-old son kill himself.
The 57-year-old woman from Flushing, Queens, called 911 Wednesday afternoon and said there had been an argument and her son was hurt.
When police arrived, they found the son on his bed, stabbed several times in the chest. An 11-inch knife was on his chest, and a 7-inch knife was found nearby.
Police say the mother told them that he had begged her to help him kill himself. The son had cerebral palsy, a progressive, degenerative disorder of movement.
Authorities say the mother had knife wounds on her left wrist and torso. They are investigating whether she had attempted suicide.
She was listed in stable condition at New York Hospital Thursday.
