Man Stabs Mother of His Child to Death in Bronx Park: Police

A 25-year-old Brooklyn man was held without bail Monday after his arraignment on murder and other charges in the death of the mother of his child, who was found with multiple stab wounds in a Bronx park over the weekend, authorities say.

It wasn't clear if Khiry Borden entered a plea Monday afternoon; he is charged with second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon in the death of 22-year-old Jasmine Gonzalez.

Gonzalez was found in Bronx River Park, near the corner of East 226th Street and Bronx Boulevard in Wakefield, just before 6 a.m. Sunday. She had been stabbed multiple times in the torso and was unconscious when police arrived, investigators said.

Emergency responders pronounced the woman dead at the scene. The age of the child she shared with Borden wasn't known.

Borden's attorney, Mitchell Golub, said his client pleaded not guilty Monday. He faces up to life in prison if convicted of the top charge against him.

Borden is due back in court later Friday.
