Brooklyn Water Main Break Delays Trains, Cuts Water to Customers: DEP

A water main broke in Brooklyn on Friday evening, delaying subway trains and cutting off water to an unknown number of customers, the Department of Environmental Protection said.

The water main broke around 7:45 p.m. in the area of Flatbush Avenue and St. Marks Place in Prospect Heights, sending a river of water flowing into the streets.

Crews were at the scene of the break into the night working to shut off the water main. Streets were still closed from Bergen Street to Prospect Street at 10 p.m.

No. 2, 3, 4, 5, B and Q trains were running with delays in both directions, but service had returned to normal by 10:15 p.m.
