Surveillance Camera Captures Robbery, Beating of Brooklyn Man

Police are searching for at least two suspects after a Brooklyn man was beaten and robbed early Monday in a bloody attack caught on a home surveillance camera.

The 60-year-old man was attacked around 1 a.m. as he left the subway and walked down an Avenue M sidewalk in Midwood.

In surveillance footage given to police by a community activist group, one of the hooded suspects can be seen punching the man in the head and then throwing him against a parked car.

As the victim lies on the ground, the suspect punches him repeatedly in the head. The suspect then rolls the half-conscious victim over and searches his pockets.

A second hooded suspect then walks over to the victim and also searches through his pants.

The suspects got away with a wallet and iPhone, police said.

The victim made it home and called an ambulance and police. His wife said that his face was covered in blood. He had to have 70-to-80 stitches and said that he's just happy to be alive.

Blood still stained the sidewalk Monday afternoon as police investigated the attack.

“I’m shocked that this could happen in our neighborhood, and in such a safe community,” Assemblyman Dov Hikind, a Democrat said.

Hikind said a $3,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest in the case.

The victim is recovering at a hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
