Man Dies After ‘Surfing' on Subway Car: Officials

Authorities say a 24-year-old man has died after hitting his head while surfing on the outside of a subway car in New York.

Police say the man was found unconscious and lying between two subway cars on a Queens-bound F train around 2:30 a.m. Friday when the train reached the Jay Street-MetroTech station in Brooklyn.

The 24-year-old victim was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police withheld his name pending family notification.

A representative for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, which operates the city's subway system, told the Daily News that the man had been riding on the outside of the train, which is illegal.
