Police released new video on Wednesday of a man being punched on a Queens street – a blow that ultimately proved fatal.
The 64-year-old man was punched by a man walking with a woman on June 26. Police say the victim may have brushed up against the woman, starting an fight with him and the man she was with.
Video shows the suspect punching the man in his head at the corner of Main Street and Queens Boulevard in Briarwood just after midnight. The man falls to the ground but gets back up for a moment before collapsing again.
The victim ultimately died at Jamaica Hospital.
Police have identified the attacker as 42-year-old Matthew Smith, and the woman he was with as 39-year-old Elena Makarova.
