2 NYC Nabes on Postal Service's Dog Attack List

Four New York state communities are on the U.S. Postal Service's list of cities with the highest number of letter carriers bitten by dogs.

According to the dog attack rankings for fiscal year 2011, Brooklyn was tied with Portland, Ore. for 13th on the list with 27.

Buffalo was further down the list, tied with Miami at 22 dog attacks on letter carriers.

Jamaica, Queens made the list with 17 dog attacks, and Rochester had 15.

The city with the most letter carrier dog attacks was Los Angeles with 83.

The Postal Service released the list Wednesday to promote National Dog Bite Prevention Week May 19-25.

The Postal Service says 4.7 million Americans are bitten by dogs annually, and more than half are children.
