NYC Movie Theater Evacuated Over Report of Smoke

A large movie theater at Lincoln Center was evacuated Sunday over reports of smoke and an electrical fire, witnesses and officials said.

Everyone in the AMC Loews Lincoln Square 13 theater had to leave around noon, the FDNY said.

The audience was told there was an electrical fire and it smelled like gas on the second floor.

Firefighters investigated a report of smoke and an alarm going off, but didn't find anything concerning, officials said.

Witnesses were told that the Imax theater would be closed for the rest of the day. The theater didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

It was a busy weekend for movie theaters as fans rushed out to see the new Star Wars movie, "Star Wars: The Last Jedi."
