Hour-Long Delays on George Washington Bridge for Second Consecutive Day; Subway Issues in the City

Some subway lines also experienced delays

Late-running roadwork on the eastbound side of the Cross Bronx Expressway backed up inbound traffic on the George Washington Bridge Thursday morning, combining with an accident to generate delays of 60 minutes.

The upper level of the GWB was experiencing 80-minute delays at 7 a.m. and the lower level was experiencing 45-minute delays.

Drivers were advised to head to the Lincoln Tunnel, where there are only 10 minute delays, or to the Holland Tunnel, where only minor delays were reported.

The delays come a day after two separate accidents on the eastbound Cross Bronx Expressway caused delays of more than an hour crossing the GWB.

Subways in the city also experienced problems Thursday. In Manhattan, M service was suspended in both directions between Essex Street and Marcey Avenue because of a person on the tracks at Delancey Street. J trains were suspended between Broad Street and Marcy Avenue in both directions.
