Empire State Building Lit up in Red to Celebrate 150 Years of FDNY

The Empire State Building was lit up in red on Saturday night to celebrate 150 years since the FDNY was established.

The tribute in lights had the New York landmark blanketed in a fiery red as more than 200 firehouses and EMS stations across the city opened their doors to the public to help celebrate the anniversary.

First responders offered tours and shared safety tips at the city-wide events.

The FDNY was established on July 31, 1865, although its origins go far back to the city's beginnings.
