A New York City corrections officer has been arrested in the alleged sex abuse of a 13-year-old girl, authorities say.
Robert Bradley, 42, was arrested in the 112th Precinct in Queens Tuesday morning on charges of first-degree attempted rape, first-degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.
Sources say Bradley and the victim knew each other.
Bradley was being held pending a court appearance, possibly Tuesday night, the Queens district attorney's office said. Attorney information wasn't immediately available.
Bradley, an 15-year veteran in the Department of Correction, was not on duty at the time of the alleged rape, officials said. The department is investigating.
A spokesman for the Department of Corrections said in a statement, "The vast majority of the Department of Correction staff perform their duties with the highest level of integrity, and Commissioner Ponte has zero tolerance for those who don't."
