NYPD: 4 Men Attack and Rob Man in Central Park

A man was attacked and robbed by four men in Central Park on Sunday night, police said.

The man was in the vicinity of West 67th Street and West Drive, near Tavern on the Green and Runner’s Grove, when he was attacked by the men just after 8 p.m.

The men hit him over the head and robbed him of $55, according to police.

He refused medical attention at the scene.

Police were seen investigating in Central Park around 9 p.m. No arrests have been reported.

While Central Park is statistically safer than ever, the attempted rape of a jogger there in October led to an increase in police patrols.

NYPD statistics analyzed by News 4 New York and the independent group New York Parks Advocates found violent crime jumped 23 percent in city parks from June 2015 through March 2016, compared to the same nine-month period last year. The numbers are striking considering total crime in parks only increased 3 percent.
