3 of America's Top 50 Barbecue Joints Are in New York City

May is National Barbecue Month and it looks like New Yorkers have at least a few top-notch places to get their meaty, saucy fix.

Three of the top 50 barbecue joints in the country are in New York City, according to users of the social media app Foursquare.

Foursquare’s list includes barbecue from sea to shining sea, with the highest concentration of quality barbecue being in Texas. The state claimed 11 of the 50 spots.

But if you can’t get to the Lone Star State this month, check out these three eateries here in the city. Foursquare users say they’re all the rage.

Number 20 on the list is Fette Sau in Williamsburg. The restaurant has a menu that changes daily, but their website advertises cured pastrami beef ribs and St. Louis style hand-pulled Berkshire pork.

Over in the East Village, you’ll find the 15th best barbecue in the country: Mighty Quinn’s BBQ. Some of the menu items include pulled pork, spare ribs, burnt ends and the brontosaurus rib. Meat can be served “naked” or in a sandwich.

Just a few blocks away from the Ikea in Red Hook is the 12th best barbecue in the United States, according to Foursquare users. Hometown Bar-B-Que is in a fairly nondescript warehouse, but inside chefs are serving up pulled pork, lamb belly, spare ribs and Jamaican jerk baby back ribs, to name a few.

The full list of America’s top barbecue joints can be found at Foursquare.
