2 Men Follow, Then Beat Woman in Violent Attempted Rape: NYPD

Two men followed and tried to rape a woman in Brooklyn, then beat her when she fought back, police say.

The 25-year-old woman was walking near Tennis Court and Ocean Avenue in Prospect Park South on Wednesday morning when she was targeted by the two suspects.

Police say the men followed the woman as she walked down a street shortly after 2 a.m.

One of the suspects pushed her against a parked car, kissed her neck and touched her genitals over her clothing. The woman managed to push the man off her and ran to a nearby apartment building.

But the two suspects followed her into the building’s courtyard and then into the vestibule of another building.

The men pinned the woman against a door and tried to pull off her pants, police say. When the woman fought back, one of the men knocked her to the ground and punched her in the face repeatedly.

As the woman was being attacked, a resident came into the vestibule and the men took off.

The extent of the woman's injuries wasn't immediately known.

Police said the suspects are in their late teens or early 20s.

The attempted rape was the same day that a man led a woman into Prospect Park and groped her while exposing himself, police said.

On Sunday morning, a 21-year-old woman was pushed to the ground my a man who then tried to rape her. She was able to break free.

And earlier this month, a man tried to rape a 23-year-old woman as she went for a morning run in Prospect Park, according to police.

The NYPD asks anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
