NY Sets Presidential Primary for April 24

New York is planning to hold the state's presidential primary next April 24.

Spokesman Josh Vlasto says Gov. Andrew Cuomo's administration consulted with both major parties, Republicans and Democrats, as is customary before determining the primary date.

The Senate and Assembly have approved the bill setting the date. Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Delaware are all looking at the same Tuesday for their primaries.

New York's primary in 2008 was held Feb. 5, so-called "Super Tuesday,'' along with many other states' presidential primaries and caucuses.

The state Board of Elections says a new bill is passed every four years to establish the date of the presidential primary.
