Chris Christie Takes Ice Bucket Challenge

Gov. Christie spent part a summer day Tuesday shivering in near-freezing temperatures after willingly being doused with a bucket of cold water.

The New Jersey governor on Tuesday posted on his Facebook page a video showing two of his kids dumping a bucket of ice water on his head as part of the Ice Bucket Challenge, a social-media fueled fundraiser set up by the ALS Foundation for battling the debilitating and deadly disease.

Christie nominated three other people to complete the challenge within 24 hours or donate $100: Democratic New Jersey U.S. Sen. Cory Booker, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and late-night TV host Jimmy Fallon.

Fallon already made good on the challenge, taking a dip on "The Tonight Show" Tuesday night with all of the members of The Roots.

The ALS Foundation reports raising $4 million since July 29 thanks to the Ice Bucket Challenge. The campaign has spread like wildfire, with thousands of people posting videos of the ice baths on Facebook and other social media networks.

Several other local personalities have taken part in the challenge, including NBC 4 New York's own Bruce Beck. Beck was nominated by Giants punter Steve Weatherford.

Beck challenged NBC 4 New York weekend anchor and host of "The Debrief With David Ushery" to take the plunge, along with Giants head coach Tom Coughlin and Mets vice president of media relations Jay Horowitz.
