Man Sought in String of Armed Robberies at Long Island Gas Stations: Police

Police are searching for a man who has been robbing Long Island gas stations at gunpoint for at least a month.

The suspect, believed to be in his 20s, enters gas stations, pulls out a semi-automatic handgun, demands money and then takes off on foot, the Nassau County Police Department said. He usually covers his face with a t-shirt or a cloth during the robberies, surveillance footage shows.

The first reported robbery happened on August 4 at 10:10 p.m. at a BP gas station in Hempstead. Two more robberies happened on August 11: the first at a Mobil gas station in Baldwin around 11:05 p.m., and the second 30 minutes later at a Star gas station in Franklin Square, according to police.

Another robbery took place the next day at 11:45 p.m. at a BP gas station in Valley Stream. Two more robberies happened in August: one on August 18 at 11:20 p.m. at a Citgo gas station in Elmont, and another on August 29 at 10:49 p.m. at a BP gas station in Seaford.

The most recent robbery was on Monday at 8:45 p.m. at a 76 gas station in Elmont.
