Commuters faced delays of up to 40 minutes after an NJ Transit train on the Northeast Corridor line became disabled on the New York side of the tunnel leading to Penn Station.
The railroad said about 1,000 passengers were on board when the train had a mechanical problem shortly after 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Crews attached a rescue train to the disabled train and hauled it into the station. Some commuters said they had been stuck on the disabled train for nearly an hour; air conditioning and lights were not affected by the mechanical problem that stalled the train.
NJ Transit customers are advised to expect some lingering delays.
