Authorities charged a high school science teacher in northern New Jersey with providing alcohol to a minor and allowing kids to drink at his home.

The Daily Record of Parsippany reports Frank Melchiorre has been suspended from Governor Livingston High School in Berkeley Heights.

The Morris County Prosecutor's Office declined to say whether Melchiorre provided the alcohol to his students or to other minors.

The Chatham resident is charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, providing alcohol to a person under the legal age, and making his residence available for the consumption of alcoholic beverages by minors.

It was not clear whether he has retained a lawyer.
