A longtime New Jersey state lawmaker is recuperating at home after suffering a small stroke while playing golf last week.

Sen. Ray Lesniak, a Union County Democrat, said he started experiencing balance problems and other issues after he played a round of golf on Aug. 22. The 66-year-old lawmaker went to a hospital later that day and was released the next day with a prescription for a drug that helps prevent blood clots that can lead to strokes and heart attacks.
Lesniak says he still occasionally deals with short periods of dizziness, and realizes he will have to "slow down," but overall is in good health.
