Newark Man Arrested in Sex Assault Slaying of Infant

A Newark man charged with sexually assaulting and murdering a 7-month-old baby girl was arrested at his mother's home Thursday night.

Twenty-four-year-old Oquan Blake is accused of assaulting and killing Dalaysia Rhymer, the 7-month-old daughter of a woman he had dated.

Authorities say he flew into a rage when the baby's mother spent time with a friend.

She returned home to find the baby unresponsive, and took her to a hospital, where she died two days later.

An autopsy determined the infant had a fractured skull, a ruptured spleen, broken ribs, a bruised spine and a lacerated liver. She also had been sexually assaulted.

No court date has been set.
