N.J. Police Nab 2 Following Lengthy Car Chase

The suspects threw what appeared to be bags of drugs out the car windows

New Jersey State Police have taken two people into custody at the Secaucus toll plaza of the New Jersey Turnpike after a lengthy pursuit, which ended with the help of a toll plaza.

State police had been pursuing the late model Toyota Camry with Connecticut tags on Interstate 80 before it got onto the southbound lanes of the turnpike.

As the driver approached the toll plaza in Secaucus, he slowed down and at the last second, switched into a different lane.

When the suspects' vehicle came to a stop behind another car at the toll plaza around 9:20 a.m. Monday, troopers swarmed the male driver as he tried to exit the vehicle. A female passenger also was taken into custody.

State police spokesman Sgt. Stephen Jones says the suspects threw what appeared to be bags of drugs out the car windows several times during the chase along Route 80.
