A Pennsylvania motorist was shot in the head with a CO2-propelled dart on Route 78 in western New Jersey, state police said.

The motorist, Darlene Bjelobrk, 33, of Nazareth, Pa., told police she was near milepost 11 when someone in a passing car fired the dart through the open window of her Toyota 4runner at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

She said the car was white, with as many as three people inside.

Bjelobrk did not require hospitalization and was treated at the scene for a minor injury to her head, a police spokesman in the Perryville office told NBC New York.

The dart was recovered.
